Ray’s Spicy Chili Rub

This rub works great on chicken or pork. Whenever you’re craving color and flavor this is the go to spice blend. Whether I’m grilling or stewing this rub rocks! I personally like to grind my own spices as often as possible.  The flavors are much more intense, I know exactly what’s in my blends, and there are no worries about additives or fillers. Plus it’s a lot less expensive to buy spices in bulk and grind them as needed at home. If you don’t have a spice grinder or an old coffee grinder you no longer use, try substituting 3 tablespoons of regular chili powder that you can find on the spice aisle of your local grocery store instead of the ground chilies.

Makes close to a half cup of rub.

  Here’s what you’ll need:

  •  2 Tbsp sea salt
  • 2 dried pasilla chilies, ground
  • 2 dried guajillo peppers, ground
  • 1 Tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp sweet smoked paprika
