Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey

Hudson Baby Bourbon is the first Bourbon distilled in New York state. The reason it’s one of my favorites though is because of it’s aging process as well as taste. Hudson’s is double-distilled and aged for less than 4 years in American Oak casks. The smaller casks means that more of the whiskey comes into contact with the surface of the wood in the interior of the barrel which in turn gives the bourbon it’s color and imparts more flavor much faster than in the larger more widely used barrels of most bourbon makers.

Up until recently I believed that bourbons had to be aged for a specific amount of time, but my research has shown me that a growing number of Bourbons are being produced by various methods with varied aging times as well as processes.

As a note, Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey comes in a 375 ML bottle and retails in my area for around $50.
